Objetos familiares, una mirada al pasado.
The project "Familiar objects, a glimpse into the past." delves into the depths of the past through the artistic process of wet plate collodion on glass plates, known as ambrotypes, measuring 29x37. Each ambrotype serves as a window to history, an ode to identity, and family heritage.
These glass plates capture everyday objects that have become emotional treasures: my grandmother's antique sewing machine, my grandfather's tailor scissors, and other items that have been an integral part of our family for generations. Each ambrotype becomes a silent witness to the stories that these objects have cherished over the years.
The wet plate collodion, with its manual process and unique results, adds an aura of nostalgia and authenticity to each image. Imperfections and textures on the glass plates narrate the traces of time and the identity of each object, carrying with them the essence of the loved ones who possessed them.
"Familiar Objects, a glimpse into the past" invites reflection on the importance of identity and continuity through the objects we inherit. These images remind us that a family's history is deeply intertwined with the objects we treasure, and through them, we keep the memory of our ancestors alive. In a constantly changing world, this project urges us to value and preserve our family objects as guardians of our identity and legacy.
